| The title
track Khoya Khoya Chand is yet another superbly composed song. Sung by the rare
singers Ajay Jhingran and Swanand Kirkire, the lyrics aren't as effective as the
music is, which has shades of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's tunes. In tracks similar to
this, the harmonium is usually the lead instrument. But thankfully, the harmonium
has been replaced by ghungroo and strings for this track. Khushboo
Sa, sung by Hamsika Iyer (of the 'Chanda Re' fame from Eklavya) is typically the
song belonging to the 1950s era. The mood of the song is brilliantly set by Hamsika,
thus making the music sound beautiful as well. This is one song which will leave
a mark on listeners. O
Re Pakhi, sung by Sonu Nigam, is a good bet but only as far as the music goes.
Sonu, who is considered to be one of the most multitalented singers of the industry,
quite disappoints with this song perhaps because this number hasn't been composed
to the standards of the other songs in the album. On the lower notes especially,
there are maximum chances of losing the interest in the song. Sakhi
Piya is a good experimental song with Shreya Goshal and Pranav Biswas at the vocals.
This song has succeeded in creating an apt atmosphere, thus letting the music
to be liked along with the vocals. The music, though quite basic, is mesmerizing.
The alaap by Pranav is definitely what gives the song an altogether different
high. Swanand Kirkire's lyrics are a treat. The
next song, Thirak Thirak begins on a superb note. The tune is absolutely original
and peppy and the voices of Shreya Goshal and Sonu Nigam add to the delight. As
the song progresses, the melody gets a little jerky though. Sonu
Nigam and Antara Choudhury have an awe-inspiring chemistry in the song Yeh Nigahein.
Although Sonu Nigam sounds better in this when Antara joins in. the heartbreaking
lyrics have immensely contributed to making the song as perfect as it is composed.
With
this movie, Shantanu Moitra climbs one more step towards becoming the next big
thing in the industry. Apart from what the biggest music directors do with their
music, Moitra has his own style and way of music. Hats off to him! Our
