MUMBAI: After a gap of four years, Pakistani rock band Strings is back with its new album, Koi Aanay Wala Hai. The album which will be released in India by Sony BMG on 19 May, claims to feature the most expensive Indipop video ever shot.

The record features eight energetic tracks composed by the duo Faisal Kapadia and Bilal Maqsood. It takes inspiration from contemporary British rock and music from the 60s and 70s.

The lead video of the album features Bollywood actor John Abraham, as an angel who falls in love with a girl. The video directed by ad maker Ravi Udyawar, is shot extensively in Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia. Shot on a 35 mm, the video uses a lot of special effects and different, stylish camera angles making it to be the most expensive Indipop video in history.

Talking about the project, Sony BMG managing director Shridhar Subramaniam says, “We have been associated with Strings for over five years now and have released great stuff like Dhaani and Najanay Kyu. Now a part of this longstanding relationship is John Abraham with Koi Aanay Wala Hai and that’s truly a matter of pride for us. The music and the video are exceptional. So we’re very sure of a great response to this one.”

Sony BMG has also announced a grand promotional strategy for the album. The video will be premiering on music channel MTV on 12 May. Additionally, a snazzy 90 second promo will be run across theatres in the country from 16 May, making it the first Indipop video to have a theatrical showcase.

The Karachi based band has earlier composed a track for Sanjay Gupta’s film Zinda. Internationally, they have also composed a sound track for Hollywood blockbuster Spiderman 2.
