MUMBAI: Rajeeta Hemwani who was slated to start her own music label – Monks of Music has shelved her plans for the time being and joined Universal Music as Vice President – Content Artiste and Repertoire. Prior to this, she was with Big Music for a short while as Content Head A & R.

Confirms Rajeeta, “I have been called on board to re-invent the label and launch more innovative talent. Universal Music already has a fantastic profile, I will adding more to them.” Hemwani has been in the business since 16 years, discovered and launched some of the biggest names in the music world and pioneered the most innovative sounds.

“Monks of Music will have to wait,” she says, adding that she couldn’t turn down a lucrative offer like that of Universal Music. She had not made any major monetary investments in this venture.

She will be joining from 9 May 2008 and will report to Universal Music MD Rajjat Kakkar.
