UMG
spokesman Peter Lofrumento though confirmed that now
an agreement has been reached but refused to elaborate
or to say whether a contract has been signed, according
to reports.
Qtrax
spokesperson Shamin Abas told The Associated Press,
"all of UMG's music available digitally will be
available for free, legal downloads on Qtrax."
In
a joint statement by UMG-Qtrax, UMG said that its artistes
and songwriters will be compensated for the use of their
content.
Qtrax
was closed down in a few months after being launched
in 2002, to avoid potential legal trouble.
