evening started with the unveiling of the album by the Bollywood legend Amitabh
Bachchan and the guest list included some noted personalities like RPG chairman
Harsh Goenka, singer Adnan Sami, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, filmmaker Yash Chopra
and many other music lovers and performers. Amidst great fanfare, Sharma performed
a few tracks from his album, delighting the audience by the magical sound of his
santoor which created an extraordinary musical vision combining Clayderman's elegance
on the piano notes, who could not be a part of the evening. After
the success of Confluence, the duo have collabrated again for Confluence 2.
The album transcends musical and cultural boundraries on to a new dimension.During
their musical journey,audience were shown a mystical video on the track titled
"The Chase" which was entirely shot in france and directed by Rajat
Nagpal.The album features nine pulsating tracks mostly composed by Sharma and
the album also has a remixed track of Sharma along with DJ Suketu.
Despite
his young age Rahul, son of the renowned santoor maestro, Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma,
is already an established name in his own right.He is the youngest Indian musician
to have performed at the WOMAD (World of Music, Arts and Dance) festival in UK.Rahul
Sharma is undoubtedly the new face of tradition and his numerous awards include
The Indo- American Society Award (1998), the Bollywood Music Award for Most Promising
New Music Director, New York (2002), and the First MTV (IMMIES) Music Award for
Best Classical / Fusion Album (2003). |
