MUMBAI: Veteran film producer Pahlaj Nihalani has joined the music label bandwagon with the launch of a stand alone music arm, titled Dhol Music.

The first film album to be released under this label will be his production, 'Khusboo – the fragrance of love.' The music has been composed by Adnan Sami and lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar.

Nihalani has already acquired the music rights of two projects outside his production house, Meri Awaaz Suno and Joshile. While the former is produced by Raman Kumar, the music has been given by south Indian composer Ilayaraja. The latter's music has been scored by musical duo Nadeem-Shravan.

Nihalani's focus will be on mainstream commercial film music. He adds, "We have a lot of big music companies, this is the time to introduce mid sized music labels. Our industry needs this platform. We have set up a complete team for our label and activities are in full swing."

He has not registered with the Indian Music Industry (IMI) yet and has no immediate plans to do the same.
