MUMBAI: Sangeet Bangla, the Bengali music channel under the Media Worldwide umbrella is planning to launch 14 new shows next month. Says Media Worldwide director Prashant Chothani, “Sangeet Bangla is doing well and has risen to the third position among Bangla General Entertainment Channels (GECs). We are planning to make Sangeet Bangla a GEC now and introduction of new set of shows is the first step towards it.”

On being contacted, Sangeet Bangla’s director Mahendra Soni confirms the news. He said that the 14 shows will be fun-filled with a lot of interaction and quality content. 11 shows are slated to go on air from 11 May and three others will follow. Adds Soni, “The idea is to be a GEC with a difference. The shows will mainly be built on fiction, comedy and music.”

Sangeet Bangla claims to be the number one Bangla music channel since the past three years. According to TAM figures, Sangeet Bangla notched up a channel share of 2.09 per cent among the target audience of 15 to 24.

Media Worldwide, the company also runs Hindi music channel, Music India.
