Om Bhutkar
Sukhan is a 3 hours long performance (mehfil) with a short interval, enriched by the plethora of compositions of Urdu literature, Hindustani Classical music and Sufi music. A performance enriched by gems like Urdu storytelling (Daastaan-goi), recitation of Ghazals and Nazms, recitation of Urdu prose, a musical rendition of Ghazals and Qawwalis.
The unique aspect of the show is that the content chosen for the performance vary from time to time. It is chosen from a vast treasure of Urdu literature and Shayari by Hafiz Jalandhari, Saahir Ludhiyanavi, Joan Eliya, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Mirza Ghalib, Ameer Khusrow, Meer taqi Meer, Mujtaba Hussain, Dagh Dehlavi, Muhommad Iqbal, Nida Fazli and many more. The performance seems to be a novelty every time, as new compositions are added to it. Sukhan also belongs to a more informal genre of performance as there is a constant interaction and a dialogue between the audience and artists. The audience is encouraged to participate in the presentation in form of response to artist's questions or repetition of the lines of poems or singing along with the artists.
Sukhan has been appreciated and applauded by the audience everywhere. It has performed in Ringan, an initiative by Aasakta theater group - Pune, as well as Muktachhanda, an initiative by Fergusson College, Pune.
