Manjiri Asnare-Kelkar belongs to the Jaipur-Atrauli tradition. Trained with veteran musician Madhukarrao Patnekar, she was the recipient of the first Bismillah Khan Memorial Award for Young Musicians in 2007. Today, she has established a significant presence on the Indian concert platform and released several commercial recordings. In this morning concert, she will showcase some morning ragas and compositions characteristic of the Jaipur Atrauli gharana, which is known for its inclination towards rare and compound (jod) ragas and the use of long complex note patterns that deploy words of the song (bol tan).
