Sudha Raghunathan is an heir to the musical legacy of legendary vocalist M. L. Vasanthakumari. With her mellifluous voice, effortless style, faithful rendition of kritis and creative interpretation of kalpana swaras, she is a leading Carnatic vocalist today. This is a screening of her performance in the NCPA’s annual festival of legendary Indian composers – Bandish (2012). The performance showcases some celebrated compositions (kritis) by saint poets Purandaradasa and Thyagaraja in ragas Saurashtram, Hansadhwani, Sri Ragam, Pantuvarali, Kharaharapriya, Yaman, Desi todi, Kapi and Nadnamkriya.
