SOI Associate Music Director Zane Dalal leads the orchestra in its first performance of Mahler's first symphony. In Dalal's words: ''The music of Mahler advanced for its time still represents the closest man has come to rendering his raw emotion into written music.'' The programme will also feature the overture, Witch's Ride, and Evening Song from Humperdinck's opera based on the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel. About Zane Dalal: A keen musicologist, Dalal regularly delivers lectures, pre-concert talks and pens articles and programme notes for the Symphony Orchestra of India. He also maintains an active blog on his website, covering a wide range of topics. Dalal is committed to the many educational initiatives of the NCPA that help bring classical music to new audience. Zane Dalal is a dynamic part of the music management team at the NCPA and is extensively involved in helping the NCPA, Mumbai bring western music to a wider audience.
