AIR has proposed 132 new FM Radio stations over next two years

NEW DELHI: A total of 107 proposals/ requests including 18 from different states and union territories have been received for opening of All India Radio FM Radio Stations at 97 places during the last three years. A total of 32 FM transmitters are being considered under 12th Plan while 37 FM transmitters will be considered in future plans. Of the 107 proposals received from 2010 to 2013, 38 FM transmitters have already been approved or made functional.

MUMBAI: Bad Romance singer Lady Gaga is recovering from a hip surgery and enjoying some motoring time with her boyfriend Taylor Kinney by watching show Top Gear, according to agencies. The 'Poker Face' hitmaker had an operation to repair labral tear. According to reports, a source said, "Taylor loves his cars and has really got into the show. Gaga doesn't even watch TV usually but she's always loved everything British, so she loves the jokey chats that the presenters have.”

Google scores over Viacom in $1 billion copyright lawsuit

MUMBAI: US Court has dismissed media conglomerate Viacom’s US$ 1 billion copyright lawsuit against Internet giant Google for the second time in three years. In a legal face-off between the two media giants, a US federal judge has dismissed Viacom's copyright lawsuit against YouTube, saying the online video site doesn't have to police itself as long as it removes infringing videos when copyright owners give notice.

Revenue of over Rs 15 bn expected from FM Phase III e-auctions

NEW DELHI: The government hopes to earn revenue of about Rs.15.3192 billion from the auction of 839 FM channels in Phase III in 294 cities. Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Manish Tewari told Parliament during question hour today that the government will conduct the auction by ascending e-auction for award of licences. He said the estimate of revenue was based on the reserve price.
