Lalit Pandit lends tunes to Kapil Sibal's lyrics

MUMBAI: Having worked with numerous lyricists in his long career, veteran music director Lalit Pandit has now given music to lyrics penned by Union Law Minister Kapil Sibal for an upcoming film by Kabir Lal. The duo has collaborated for the upcoming film ‘Samman’ directed by Kabir Lal starring Vivek Oberoi in a pivotal role. Based in Rajasthan, the soundtrack comprises of eight songs featuring Sufi, romantic and folk genres. Currently under production, it will be unveiled in the latter half of the year.

Bhushan Kumar breathes life into BR Films

MUMBAI: After witnessing success in music distribution and production, Bhushan Kumar is all set to take a step ahead by reviving BR Chopra’s banner BR Films through the sequel of the 2008 film Bhootnath. Tentatively titled Bhootnath 2, the film is an attempt by Kumar to help Abhay Chopra, Ravi Chopra’s son, resurrect the banner by co-producing it. It will be directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the chief creative officer at Leo Burnett who also co-directed Chillar Party.

Kinky Boots wins 2013 Tony Awards

MUMBAI: Broadway musical ‘Kinky Boots’ dominated the 2013 Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Theatre, better known as the ‘Tony Award’ winning in six categories including best musical and score. It also won the choreography, leading man in a musical and two technical awards. The show which has iconic pop singer Cyndi Lauper is based on an obscure 2005 British film about a British shoe factory on the brink of ruin that retrofits itself into a maker of footwear for drag queens.

Hamid Ansari released a book entitled “Dard-e-Dil Likhun Kab Tak” (in Urdu and Hindi) authored by Rukhsar Amrohvi, daughter of legendary film director and writer Kamal Amrohvi. Addressing on the occasion, Shri Ansari said that late Shri Kamal Amrohvi was a legend who contributed a lot to the promotion of Urdu language through his remarkable writings. Veteran singer Manna Dey stable, but critical

MUMBAI: Veteran playback singer and winner of many laurels Prabodh Chandra Dey, better known by his nickname Manna Dey continues to fight his battle with age related complications at a private hospital in Bengaluru. His condition is reported to be stable but at the same time critical due to chest infection and reported multi-organ failure. The 94 year old singer was admitted to the ICU in a Bengaluru hospital on 8 June, after his chest infection gave rise to other complications.

All India Radio to mark anniversary with programmes
