RJ Malishka - The King and I....

Meeting with a King, I'd assumed, would have a tiresome prelude. There'd be ministers to please and courtesans to put at ease. There'd be plotting vazirs and doting maharanis. Not quite right with his lordship, SRK. Ok, maybe there were two or three hyper P.R chics, a handful of cautious security guards and two sweet, snoozing dogs who seemed to say �the king can take care of himself.' That of course because the king was expecting moi? I dont dare to assume I'd get into the hallowed walls of Mannat or his office building so easily on a regular day.

George Michael to help fight crime

MUMBAI: Pop star George Michael's neighbours have sought the singer's help to combat the growing menace of knife crime in the UK. They have asked Michael to lend his time to a school song project aimed at combating such crimes. The singer has received pleas from residents and school officials in Highgate, North London, where he lives, asking him to support a scheme encouraging children to express themselves through music rather than fighting.

Ravi Shukla crowned Star Voice of India

MUMBAI: Delhi boy Ravi Shukla has emerged the winner of this year's television music talent hunt, Amul Star Voice of India, featured on Star Plus. In the finale held in Mumbai on Sunday, Ravi Shukla was crowned the winner by chief guest Sonu Niigaam and awarded a brand new car along with a cheque for Rs 2.5 million and a contract for his first album in conjunction with T-Series. While several critics considered runner-up Sikkim girl Saptaparna Chakraborty, a better singer, Shukla walked away victorious, winning the viewers' vote by a considerable margin.

MTV UK to cut 80 jobs

NEW DELHI: MTV UK will axe 80 jobs, or around 10 per cent of its workforce, as part of its parent company Viacom's global plan to save $250 million in 2009. London-based MTV UK and MTV International, part of Viacom's MTV Networks division, have cut between 70 and 80 jobs out of a workforce of around 750 based in Camden and Oxford Street. MTV UK, which comprises channels like MTV One, VH1 and TMF, told its staff that it would begin a 30-day consultation on the cuts which are expected to affect most of the departments.
