WindSong Music Festival 2014-2015 announced

MUMBAI: The 2nd edition of WindSong Music Festival announced its strategic partnership with India’s leading auto brand, Maruti Suzuki with the leitmotif of "fresh air, blue skies & your favourite songs".

Percept Live and World Of Yellow have joint hands to bring together three popular concepts - Muisc, Environment and Friends to create a never-seen-before outdoor music festival for the young generation. Maruti Suzuki will be launching a special limited edition WindSong Swift car model as a part of its association.The headliner for the festival will be the powerhouse performer Farhan Akhtar who will be performing live at a music festival for the first time ever. Farhan Akhtar made his singing debut in a film Rock On!! followed by Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Shaadi Ke Side Effects. He has performed in several national and international concerts.

Farhan Akhtar states, "I am really looking forward to be performing for the first time at a music festival. I cannot wait to get up close and personal with my fans. Farhan Live has always been about molding the 'artist-to-fan' direct connect as well as spreading a social message through my music to young audiences."

Incorporating polished homegrown sounds and an exultant festival vibe, WindSong will create distinctive music that is aimed at people with diverse sensibilities, inspiring music enthusiasts to dance to the alternative indie sound and get up close and personal with their favourite rockstars. WindSong will introduce a new facet to revelry using state-of-the-art technology and arrangements, created by the finest experts in the industry and breaking the boundaries of genre and generation.

At the 1st edition, various musicians from Mumbai and Pune travelled together on a WindSong bus from Mumbai to Goa to perform at the festival. These were musicians who didn't know each other – met for the first time on the WindSong bus to Goa – became friends on that roadtrip – and since then have been the best of friends - performing together at various events & festivals. The 2nd edition of WindSong brings together these musicians who will perform live with their group of friends. WindSong aspires to engage artists from different regions through this platform. WindSong aims to become the first carbon neutral event to be held with a desire to save the planet. The mission at WindSong is to transcend the limitations of the commonplace music festival and leave a meaningful and lasting legacy of environmentally sound concerts. The organizers aim to create is a veritable mecca for art in all its forms and for people who feel passionate about it; a multitudinous celebration inclined specially to the correct and loving preservation of nature, humanity, and earth. To further their environmental commitment, the organisers are planning to source all power from natural sources such as solar, biofuel and natural gas generators, while ensuring that all products sold remain true to their eco-friendly mandate. On the festival grounds there will be recycle stations, compost stations, water stations where attendees can refill their water bags instead of wasting bottled water, biodegradable and edible cups will be used instead of regular plastic cups. Camping, water stations, vendor booths, and food vendors will run on solar energy technology.

WindSong will source all energy for production of the stages and other installations that require power using solar panels and bio-fuel generators.

The festival will host stalls by experts who will create everything from eco art to exotic gastronomy to installations to holistic wellbeing classes to eco lounges. Ranked amongst the top 10 music festivals in its inaugural year itself, this year promises to get bigger, better and bolder. WindSong pledges to offer an impeccable weekend getaway with world class live bands, amidst tranquil scenic locations and electrifying activities. It will be a fantastic opportunity to detach from the urban frenzy, drive out to beautiful locations situate on the outskirts of metro cities. Listen to your favorite songs as you embark on a fun WindSong RoadTrip with a specially planned route map via exciting PitStops enroute to the festival. The days will be spent rejoicing to music on mountain top stages with beer, food 

& wine festivals, hip pool parties and outdoor activities like bungee jumping, flying fox, zipline, free falls in the adventure park. The nights will deliver cutting edge performances in an open air amphitheater situate amidst the highlands as the majestic backdrop to sunset sessions in the midst of an enchanted forest clearing.

WindSong, a 2 day weekend escape where music fanatics get up, close and personal with the artists they love, will be held on 29th - 30thNovember 2014 in Hyderabad, 24th - 25th January 2015 in New Delhi and 28th February – 1st March 2015 in Mumbai. Featuring an eclectic line up of Indian indie acts from across the country, it promises to be a welcome addition to India's growing festival calendar. The festival promises to showcase the best of homegrown talent coupled with volt-loads of state of the art experimental technology, making it an avant-garde visual delight par excellence. The line-up itself boasts an array of 15 musicians of note such Leslie Lewis, Alien Chutney feat Vir Das, Ankur Tewari, Sidd Coutto, Clayton Hogermeer, Suryaveer, Sherrin Varghese, Liquid Bass Project and the likes. Cumulatively there will be 3 WindSong Music Festivals held across 3 exotic locales situate between Mumbai & Pune, New Delhi & Jaipur and on the outskirts of Hyderabad plus 3 WindSong Road Trips heralded by a major flag-off and 3 WindSong Day Outs in the form of pre parties leading upto the WindSong Music Fest.
