Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida launching nation-wide search for new artistic director

MUMBAI: The Gay Men's Chorus of South Florida has announced it will launch a nation-wide search for a new Artistic Director in September. The Chorus is comprised of 170 members from throughout the South Florida region who have performed to sold-out concerts throughout the group's five-year history. The artistic director also serves as the conductor and reports to the board of directors.

The Chorus had been led by Gordon Roberts, a stellar presence on the podium since the group's inaugural year. Roberts' contract came to an end this summer, resulting in a vacancy for the position. "Gordon Roberts is an accomplished musician, and we owe him a deep debt of gratitude for the service he has given to the men of the Chorus," states board Chair Doug Pew. "We believe Gordon has great things ahead of him in his career and wish him tremendous success." The Chorus will be working with talented guest conductors until the Chorus identifies its next artistic leader. The season is expected to open on time with the Chorus's highly anticipated holiday concerts 11, 12, 18 and 19 December.

"We are looking for our next, great artistic leader for the Chorus," states President Bill Spinosa. "South Florida has a vibrant LGBT community that is exploding with growth. Our vision is to become one of the leading men's choruses in the country, and we are enthused to bring a top-talent to the podium who will take us to that level."
