Demi Lovato returns with summer anthem 'Cool for the Summer'

MUMBAI: Multi-platinum selling recording artist, songwriter and vocal powerhouse Demi Lovato today released 'Cool for the Summer,' the debut single from her forthcoming fifth studio album which is due later this year. Produced by Max Martin and Wolf Cousins, the cheeky, song-of-the-summer, 'Cool for the Summer' marks Lovato's first release on Safehouse Records, a record label the 22-year-old launched with partners Nick Jonas and music executive Phil McIntyre, in a partnership with Island Records and Hollywood Records.

"This time around, I am free to explore. I can try anything, I can push my boundaries," said Demi Lovato. "It is been so exciting to get back in the studio and hone in on my sound. This album is going to surprise some people and I cannot wait for my fans to take this journey with me."

Today Lovato will embark on a whirlwind promotion tour that will find her dropping into cities across the U.S. throughout the holiday weekend. She will surprise fans at pool parties, join in the July 4th fun and even perform "Cool for the Summer" for those lucky enough to be in attendance.

It is been an incredible few years for Lovato. With a fan base that includes over 17 million Instagram followers, 28 million Twitter followers and nearly 37 million Facebook fans, the singer-songwriter, actress and philanthropist released her last studio album, 'Demi' in 2013. The album hit #1 on iTunes in over 50 countries and produced platinum singles, 'Heart Attack', 'Neon Lights' and 'Really Don't Care.' To celebrate the success of 'Demi', Lovato performed on stages all over the world when she embarked on two sold-out headlining tours ('Neon Lights Tour' and 'Demi World Tour') as well as countless national TV shows including 'Good Morning America', 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon', 'Late Night with Seth Meyers', 'Ellen' and more.

In addition to her musical accomplishments, the business woman and entrepreneur released her New York Times best-seller, 'Staying Strong: 365 Days a Year' and launched her very own skin-care line, Devonne By Demi. As an outspoken advocate for causes close to her heart, she remains devoted to giving back and serves as a role model by sharing her personal experiences. In honour of her late father, she launched The Lovato Treatment Scholarship which raises awareness for mental health and addiction issues, while providing funds to those who cannot otherwise afford treatment.
