Bigcitybeats World Club Dome wraps space edition with record-breaking attendance

MUMBAI: With the dust now settling on a record breaking, sold-out BigCityBeats World Club Dome, this unique Space Edition ended up drawing a staggering 180,000 visitors over 3 days (up to 60,000 each day) from 70 nations, cementing its reputation as the largest club in the world. 230 DJs and live acts descended on Frankfurt’s Commerz bank Arena and its surrounding forest, meadow and swimming pool grounds, to celebrate what was to be a truly intergalactic spectacle.

After a stunning opening show on Friday (7 June 2019), in which, a 28-metre-high, true-to-scale replica of the Ariane five Rocket was displayed, BigCityBeats founders Bernd and Carina Breiter, along with ESA Astronauts Matthias Maurer and André Kuipers, made an announcement that triggered a worldwide quake, leaving the dance music community in complete awe…

In August 2019, BigCityBeats’ WORLD CLUB DOME will make history by sending an astronaut to space to DJ aboard the ISS. ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano received rigorous training from German DJ Le Shuuk in the Columbus Module at the EAC just one month ago in preparation for this huge feat. It was a message that travelled far beyond the realms of our planet and beyond. As such, the visionary Bernd Breiter was presented with two solar cells from a wing of the Hubble Space Telescope by ESA’s Emmet Fletcher, for his commitment to merging the fields of entertainment and science.

On day two, over 60,000 clubbers bore witness to the world premiere of Steve Aoki and Timbaland, experiencing a daring yet inspiring performance that united the worlds of electronic dance music and hip hop. As the two legendary acts debuted their new single to a full Commerzbank Arena, partygoers were stunned once more by the surprise addition of The Black Eyed Peas who joined the show onstage, making an emphatic return to BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME after the event’s winter edition. The awe-inspiring moments kept rolling, as the group then hosted a spontaneous and intimate after-party for 150 people. Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Don Diablo and Robin Schulz were just some of the other global superstars to perform on the imposing Main Stage, accompanied by dazzling pyrotechnics in a stadium setting.

Boasting all genres of dance music across 700,000 square metres, WORLD CLUB DOME’s new Outdoor Main Stage hosted thrilling performances from chart-toppers Jason Derulo, Tinie Tempah, Clean Bandit and Lost Frequencies among others. For those in search of harder-hitting music, the Zombie stage offered impeccable design details that were dark, eerie and brutish, providing the perfect setting for two of the most in-demand hardstyle artists on the scene – Bassjackers and Da Tweekaz.

Offering an authentic Ibiza experience, the WCD Pool Sessions and surrounding areas provided a dreamy back drop and a welcome retreat for the house and techno hedonists. With one of Spain’s most established parties, Elrow, in full control on the Saturday, thousands of partygoers danced to the sounds of Claptone and Andhim in beautiful sunshine. Whilst Sven Väth and his entourage headed up the Cocoon take-over on Sunday, a German premiere was celebrated next door, as Ushuaïa resident ANTS made their World Club Dome debut, fronted by Nic Fanciulli and Andrea Oliva.

Traditional clubbing is not an option for BigCityBeats and its visionary head Bernd Breiter. Having occupied clubs on land, sea and air, the German events company is set take WORLD CLUB DOME to the International Space Station in August, where it will be livestreamed via satellite to BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME Cruise Edition at its final stop on the world’s most popular party island, Ibiza. Following this monumental event, they look forward to Düsseldorf for BigCityBeats World Club Dome Winter Edition in January 2020. Headlining this first party of the year will be none other than the World’s #one Ranked DJ (DJ Mag Top 100), Martin Garrix.

Following this hugely successful Space Edition, BigCityBeats’ all-encompassing club experience, BigCityBeats WORLD CLUB DOME, has already announced its return to Frankfurt as its earthly home and will take place on 5, 6 and 7 June 2020.
