Udayswar@Prithvi to present Paras Nath's mellifluous flute recital

MUMBAI: Udayswar@Prithvi is a rare and truly unique acoustic experience of Indian classical music to be enjoyed in its pure form, in the manner it was originally designed, for an intimate baithak. This time Paras Nath and his flute will do the magic for all the attendees.

Born in a family of traditional flautists from Varanasi, Paras Nath showed remarkable inclination towards music from childhood. Inheriting the legacy of the four centuries old art of flute playing, he started training at the age of five under the expert guidance of his father renowned flautist Pandit Amar Nath.

Paras Nath’s virtuosic blowing technique has turned the bansuri (flute) into an instrument of beauty, his recitals are methodical with an emphasis on the gayaki ang and consistent sur and laya are the hallmark of his playing.

For more than 15 years now Paras Nath has delved into the realms of Shashtriya Sangeet, his fluid and distinct melodies mesmerise and captivate listeners across musical borders. In addition to his successful journey in the world of classical music, he is also a well-known artiste in the Indian Film Music Industry.

“Be it as a listener or performer at a morning concert, a profound wave energizes you with the rising sun; along with a cheerfulness of the chirping birds and playing the flute in such an ambience has its own charm. It is a great privilege and honour to perform at Udayswar@Prithvi at the renowned Prithvi Theatre with its added magnetism of live music sans a sound system; it has made me curious to experience this.  I profusely thank the organisers for this wonderful opportunity which will connect me to the audience without any amplification! Feeling blessed,” said Paras Nath.

There is growing interest and enthusiasm amongst audiences of all ages to attend morning concerts led by Pancham Nishad and Prithvi Theatre both active in promoting and developing the performing arts to come together to present Udayswar@Prithvi, a concert of morning ragas of the second prahar.  Held on every third Sunday of the month this concert series features various vocal and instrumental artistes.

The intimacy and excellent acoustics of Prithvi Theatre offers an unadulterated exchange of music between the artiste and the audience making it a refreshing and rejuvenating experience unlike any other in today's age of microphones and amplification.

Nath will be performing at Udayswar@Prithvi on 17 June 2018 at 7:30 am.
