The Remix winner Su Real announces India tour

MUMBAI: Hot on the heels of winning the popular music reality show on Amazon Prime, The Remix, Delhi-based bass music producer Su Real has announced a multiple-city India tour that kicks off on 18 May in Delhi.

The reality show that paired a DJ and music producer with a singer, concluded its first edition on 4 May , and the pair of Su Real aka Suhrid Manchanda and singer Rashmeet Kaur were announced as the winners – edging out more popular duos like as Sreeram-Candice and Thomson-NSG.

Delhi-based bass music producer Su Real is a familiar name for dance music fans courtesy his high-energy shows, and colourful videos. Part of the desi bass movement, Su Real has introduced global genres like moombahton, trap, dancehall to the lexicon of desi bass fans in India with releases like Twerkistan(2016), Brown Folks (2015) and Trapistan (2014). Rashmeet Kaur is best known for her song, Heer from the Anushka Sharma-Diljit Dosanjh starrer, Phillauri.

An experienced man behind the decks, Su Real is a part of that rare breed of Indian producers who can create and curate for the dancefloor with effortless ease. It was his experience and versatility with different genres, including Bollywood, that made him an ideal candidate for The Remix, and his pairing with Rashmeet impressed The Remix judges – Bollywood music director Amit Trivedi, singer Sunidhi Chauhan and desi bass king, Nucleya – on a weekly basis.

Over the course of ten weekly episodes, Su Real produced 16 remixes that varied from dancehall, Latin, house, hip-hop, bass, EDM, mooombahton, folk pop, baile funk and retro.

The Remix has shone a spotlight on Su Real and for the producer whose track ‘Bajre de soundboy’ was used to soundtrack the EA Fifa 2018 trailer, this can only mean bigger things.

“I feel blessed to have been a part of Season one of The Remix on Amazon Prime, for it is truly a game changer as a platform for modern Indian singers and music producers,” says Suhrid of his experience. “The content is Bollywood-based but the music, visuals, dancers incorporate a lot of what’s happening on the cutting edge of these arts in India. We proved that it is time to re-draw the musical landscape in India – it’s not just Bollywood or commercial or trance. Don't get me wrong, Bollywood is great and I love a lot of filmi music, but the melting pot of Indian popular music has much, much more in it – the masala mix is diverse and the tadkaa is pungent. Our tastebuds can enjoy a diversity of flavours and so can our ears, and our hips; we can coexist,” he adds.

#Winning: Tour spread across 12 cities

Shooting The Remix meant that Su Real had to take a break from gigging, and the #Winning celebratory tour is an opportunity for him to engage with fans, old and new. Having had a chance to create remixes and mash-ups over the course of The Remix, the 12-city tour will also see him test new tracks that he is looking to release later this year.
