Dutch DJ/Producer Sam Feldt becomes the ambassador for GreenSeat

MUMBAI: Platinum-selling Dutch DJ/Producer Sam Feldt has become the official ambassador of GreenSeat, thus taking the first of many steps towards his goal of creating a more sustainable and eco-friendly world by offsetting his carbon emissions with the label by Climate Neutral Group. GreenSeat gives both people as well as companies, who are its official ambassadors, a chance to travel the green way by offsetting their carbon emissions.

With this association, Sam Feldt will be addressing his carbon footprints that are an outcome of his air travels. By contributing to different Gold Standard certified projects globally, he will make-up for his carbon emissions.

Sam Feldt announced his association with GreenSeat, saying, "Following up on my New Years' resolution that I posted to social media at the start of this year, I'm very proud to announce my partnership with GreenSeat. As a worldwide touring DJ taking more than 150 flights per year, air travel is one of the most important things to address in my opinion. Therefore, as of today, all CO2 emissions and pollution caused by the flights that I take, will be offset by investing and participating in Gold Standard certified CO2 projects all around the world - making my air travel carbon neutral. Projects include the development of windmills in India, investing in biogas in Tanzania and providing clean cooking methods in Uganda. I'm very excited to be the first DJ to take this type of systematic action and I hope many will follow in my footsteps."

Sam Feldt will be associated with Cookstoves, a sustainable energy project in Uganda that aims to eliminate the use of charcoal and wood for cooking, which is practiced by about 94 per cent rural population of Uganda. While the charcoal or wood causes a lot of CO2 emission, the poor section of Uganda spends 15% of their income on charcoal and wood. With Cookstoves, the misery of these people will be reduced by offering them efficient charcoal stoves that are produced in Uganda itself. Besides, helping local entrepreneurs in earning profit from the sales, there are also regular marketing campaigns carried out to create awareness and stimulate the use of efficient charcoal stoves. Sam Feldt will be visiting one of the projects later this year.

Founded in 2002 as a part of Climate Neutral Group, GreenSeat is a social venture that has been working passionately to create a substantial difference in the reduction of global carbon emissions, by offering people and organizations, across the globe, new insights on reducing as well as offsetting carbon emissions.
