MUMBAI: Dwen is the phonetic spelling of douen, and a play on the word duende. The names given to mythological entities taken from Caribbean and latin folk lore.

The latter spelling also carries a double meaning, that of the artistic/musical term of Duende. The eerie sense of sadness, loss, longing, fear and emotional authenticity that haunts so many works of art.

The things people take for granted as important, the things that seem like they matter be it making art, trying to write a song, falling in love, getting fucked up on gear, wanting to talk to beautiful strangers in the club all comes with the possibility of loss, the risk of getting it wrong, the fear it might never happen and if it does how long will it last.

Dwen is cut through with the bitter sweet, tragedy comedy inherent in everything. It’s a tongue in cheek celebration of those brief moments of fruition in defiance of the tiny goblin of doubt in the corner of your mind. It's an awareness that that little fucker is there, always. But that, perhaps, is what makes the good shit even better.
