NCPA's latest Band Baja edition to feature Indie Routes

MUMBAI: The National Centre for Performing Arts presents the most awaited edition of Band Baja that will be promoting promising young collaborations. The series will present a young band Indie Routes that focuses on Indie pop, Sufi and contemporary folk songs as a part of their repertoire.

Band Baja is a stage for young talented musicians going beyond the set boundaries of musical genres and traditions. In the second concert under this series NCPA will stage Indie Routes, a bunch of talented young artists true to their roots buried deep in sublime music that celebrates the brilliance of Indian music with a contemporary touch. The band has performed in more than 200 concerts across India and abroad.

Indian Music head of programming Dr Suvarnalata Rao says, “We at the NCPA are absolutely geared to have another edition of the Band Baja series. The band, Indie Routes has an exceptional amalgamation of gifted musicians that reiterate their commitment to their art which is what uplifts Band Baja as a series. The idea of bringing together the western and Indian instruments for a nature of music that is alternative or fusion, Band Baja looks forward to thrilling the audience presenting fine versatility with a pinch of musical charm.”

Band Baja series will present Indie Routes, comprising six talented musicians, Abhas Joshi (Lead vocal), Shreyas Joshi (supporting vocal, guitar, music arrangement), Anmol (Lead guitar), Papu (Base guitar), Kahan (Percussions) Aryaman (drums). They will explore the depth of Indian music with a contemporary touch, seeking to create newer expressions through a collaborative venture. Indie Routes is truly a getaway to a world of soulful and spellbinding music embracing and absorbing world music with ease, without losing the identity of our musical traditions.

The series will go live on 22 September 2017, Tata Theatre at 7:30 pm.
