'Dharohar' - A mystical journey to recreate the magic of classical music in true 'Baithak Style'

MUMBAI: SwarYatra brings together celebrated artistes on a common platform, at a unique concert of classical music titled 'Dharohar'.  SwarYatra from the past five years has been striving to bring forth the present and upcoming young talent of classical music to the patrons in Chamber (Baithak) style. Dharohar concert will feature Smt. Apoorva Gokhale and Smt. Pallavi Joshi (Vocal), Pandit Pusparaj Koshti (Surbahar) and Shri. S. Balachander on Chandraveena. The Concert will be held at P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy (Mini Theatre), Ravindra Natya Mandir, Prabhadevi, Mumbai on Sunday, 5 March 2017 from 7 am onwards.

The concert will have two sessions.

Session: 1 will feature vocal performances by Smt. Apoorva Gokhale and Smt. Pallavi Joshi (Sahagayan). They will be accompanied by Pandit Nayan Ghosh on (Tabla) and Shri. Sangeet Mishra on (Sarangi).

Session: 2 will witness Sahavadan by Pandit Pushparaj Koshti on the rare instrument Surbahar and Pandit S. Balachander on the ChandraVeena. They will be accompanied by Pandit Udhavrao Apegaonkar on (Pakhawaj)

All of the above artistes have earned incredible reputation as top notch performers in the classical arena, by giving spellbinding performances through various concerts across India.

SwarYatra director Manoj Mandalikar quoted, “For the last five years, we at SwarYatra have been striving to provide a platform to the artistes to present their unique talent. Each of the above-chosen artistes has their own distinctive style of presenting the content. When all these artistes come together at a common stage, the audiences will be pleasantly surprised by the incredible content, creating a mesmerizing effect in their minds.

He further added, “Chamber performances i.e. music performed in front of a small audience is extremely vital for a good to connect between the patron and the performer. It has been a fulfilling process for me to be engaged in keeping alive the chamber performance or “Baithak Ambience” of music by bringing forth various artistes on one common stage for the connoisseurs of Indian classical music.”
