Danny Avila's gorgeous remix of Gavin James' 'I Don't Know Why' gets full release

MUMBAI: Danny Avila is back in the spotlight with his first release of 2017, showing his versatility once again with a beautiful remix of one of the hottest properties in pop music, Gavin James.

James’ sweet acoustic guitar singer-songwriting sounds have seen him become a major star over the last couple of years, with his breakout hit Nervous reaching over 80 million streams on Spotify, hitting the #1 spot in Holland and going multi-platinum in several countries. He played to 15,000 people at his own headline show in his hometown of Dublin last year, and counts the likes of Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and Sam Smith as fans.

The original of ‘I Don’t Know Why’ dates back to 2014, and Danny created this version of it for his own pleasure and use not long ago. Once James and his label heard it, however, they knew they had to get it out there. Avila retains the delicate charms of the original in his remix, placing James’ measured yet powerful vocal over filtered synth arpeggios before introducing his gentle guitar picking and a warm bassline. As the bridge unfurls, so too do pulsing synth chords and the soaring chorus plays out over lush harmonies and a chugging beat in beautiful fashion. More one for the radios than the dancefloors, it’s another sign that Avila has a hugely varied career ahead of him.

Danny Avila on the remix, “Over the last year I was experimenting a lot with different sounds and styles so when I was playing around with this pop song I really liked I tried to create something different just for fun. Just one week later my team told me that they loved it and want to release it.”
