MOTi and Maurice West combine on the turbocharged Disco Weapon

MUMBAI: MOTi’s back with one of his feistiest tracks to date for Tiësto’s Musical Freedom label in the form of Disco Weapon. Creating this absolute beast alongside young hotshot Maurice West, he’s continuing his excellent run of form that includes recent smash Legends with Alpharock and his remix of Tiësto feat. John Legend’s ‘Summer Nights’.

The track wastes no time in getting to business, with a rampant Daft Punk style distorted synth arpeggio rising in pitch incessantly over techno-edged beats. Huge FX builds and an infectious vocodered vocal sample build up the tension to intense levels, leading us to the immense drop. Absolute carnage ensues, with a snarling, metallic lead riff doing battle with raw dubstep-esque synth blasts as the percussion pounds onwards.

Just when you think you’ve heard it all comes another euphoric turbo-charged riff in the main build, teasing us with its brief appearance, and then it’s into another massive build ‘n’ drop sequence. It’s one of MOTi’s most technically impressive pieces of work to date, truly cutting edge and laced with intricate, hard-hitting production technique.

Maurice West is one of the scene’s most promising young producers who came to fame last year by winning a Headhunterz remix contest. His version of To Be Me put him on the map and since then he’s impressed with his big room sounds on labels like Mainstage Music and Armada Trice.

MOTi has just finished his tour of Asia which took in Ultra’s festivals in Tokyo, Manila and Singapore plus shows in Tainan and Taipei.
