War & Pierce release eagerly awaited EP independently

MUMBAI: Singer, songwriter, and guitarist extraordinaire Sunny Warhas teamed up with LA soul singer/songwriter Chris Pierce to form a new project – ‘War & Pierce.’

Chris Pierce & Sunny War had a friend in common - musician and producer Jared Faber. Faber thought the two should meet and that they might hit it off...maybe there was some music to be made amongst them.

The three first got together at Faber’s Silver Lake studio for a little jam, and out of that was born ‘Any Day Now,’ the first song written and recorded by the three. They all felt so inspired by the outcome of their first encounter that they tried to repeat it...to see if lightning could indeed strike twice. Each time they got together, they wrote and recorded what would ultimately become their debut EP, the self titled ‘War & Pierce.’

Basic tracks for the album were recorded live. Some additional electric guitars and keyboards were added later. Michael Jerome Moore (Better Than Ezra, Richard Thompson) is featured on drums. The collection was mixed by multi-Grammy award winner Dave Way.

In addition to the five War & Pierce originals, the EP also features a blistering cover of Iggy Pop’s ‘Search & Destroy.’ This complete reworking of the song is entirely different and every bit as emotional as the Iggy original. The War & Pierce version is an extraordinary hybrid combining their rootsy blues take on songs with a punk classic.
