æDilwaleÆ team celebrates the success of its music

MUMBAI: The music of a film defines the expectations from the film and the music of ‘Dilwale’ has done just that. The album has already crossed 10 crores streams and has become the most listened, loved and watched music album of the year 2015. Sony Music along with Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd. and Rohit Shetty Productions hosted a grand party to announce this stupendous success which was a night to remember.

Rohit Shetty agrees and states, “Good things come to those who wait and ‘Dilwale’ has just been the right wait for all of us. I am very happy with the music response we got so far and hope that people enjoy the songs as much as we loved shooting them. It’s a musical treasure that will be cherished for long. Pritam has done an excellent job.”

Shah Rukh Khan adds, “Music is what binds a story and its characters. Pritam has given us beautiful melodies along with foot tapping beats, all in one soundtrack. The lyrics written by Amitabh Bhattacharya go handsomely with the music making the songs complete compositions. The success of the music just gives a reaffirmation that the hard work put into the music has been appreciated.”

Kajol said, “Every song has made a mark with the audiences. Such a music album comes once in a while and I feel extremely happy that everyone has welcomed each song with such enthusiasm. Pritam has done a brilliant job as well as Amitabh Bhattacharya who penned such beautiful lyrics for each song.”

“The music success of any film is always a boost for the film purely because everyone knows how important music is for any film. Wherever I have been recently, I have heard people humming our songs which feels great that music has been loved,” stated Varun Dhawan.

Kriti Sanon on the other hand said, “Music is essential in life and everyone appreciates good music. I always had the confidence that ‘Dilwale’s’ music would be a chartbuster and that’s exactly what it is. The music of every song is different and since the film has two love stories the music for each of them is also very defined and different from one another. I feel very proud to be part of this project.”

Extremely thrilled on the worldwide success Sony Music president India & Middle East Shridhar Subramaniam, “Dilwale has been one of our most prestigious music projects. When we began work we had decided the strategy for this film would be to hit the fans with a single every week in order to capture their mind space and we have been able to achieve the same. Additionally, we wanted to ensure the songs reach out to audiences globally and therefore we released Arabic and Malay versions. We have had a long standing relationship with Pritam and together we have created another music success. We are extremely happy with the overall response to the music and we hope to be working with this winning team again.”

Red Chillies Entertainment CEO Venky Mysore said, “We are delighted that the music of Dilwale has been appreciated world over and on all platforms. The music of Pritam and lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya has created a stir which has been further marketed well by Sony Music India with their unique strategy. We hope to give audiences more such music in future too.”

The first song was a much awaited one as fans wanted to watch their favourite iconic Bollywood couple SRK-Kajol on screen. The wait was worth their time as the song video within 24 hours of its release achieved more than five million views, a feat that has never been heard or seen for any Bollywood song video. Their inimitable romance, Arijit’s soulful voice along with picturesque locales, made the video seemed like a dream.

The second song featuring Bollywood’s next generation stars, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon was an instant hit across age groups. Varun’s spectacular dancing and Kriti’s cute next door girl look was loved by the audiences and the song has already become a must at weddings.

Sony Music then released the third single, the sneak peak of which was heard during the film trailer and that had already created a huge demand from the fans. ‘Janam Janam‘s’ haunting melody and SRK-Kajols’ intense chemistry kept everyone spell bound.

The album released on 4 December across different platforms and within hours of its release, it was number one across all streaming platforms and radio channels. This has been one of the biggest starts for any song on any audio platform in India.

Even in the download platforms like iTunes the album debuted at number one. Music Channels that define the success of song videos have made ‘Gerua’, ‘Manma Emotion’ and ‘Janam Janam’ the most rotated song video compared to any other Bollywood song.
