Britain's blues artists 'The Mick Clarke Band' to premiere in India exclusively with Simply The Blues

MUMBAI: Considered as one of the finest blues guitarists to come out of UK, Mick Clarke with his band will be performing in India for the first time as part of the third edition of Simply The Blues music festival this October.

The act will be headlined by Big Bang Blues, a blues artiste group from Delhi. Formed in 2009, this six piece band draws its influences from blues, rhythm and blues, jazz, funk and rock.

Touring with blues legends Howlin Wolf, Otis Spann, Johnny Winter, to opening for Muddy Waters, Mick Clarke lays it on the line with raw explosive riffs. Mick Clarke band began his solo career in the 80's by appearing on numerous festivals with artistes such as Robert Cray, Johnny Winter and the late Rory Gallagher.

The Mick Clarke Band comprises Mick Clarke on vocals and lead guitar, Chris Sharley on drums and Ed Masters on bass guitar. To be showcased exclusively by Starkonnect Events & Promotions, in their twin city tour (Mumbai – October 25, 2014 and Bangalore – October 26, 2014), as part of their 'Simply The Blues' concerts.

Starkonnect Events & Promotions Partner Anil Mehta said, "Blues is in the blood of every true music lover. As blues legend Willie Dixon so rightly summed up 'The Blues is the Roots, the rest is the fruits'. Mick has paid his dues on the blues circuit and his style is raw-boned and straight from the gut. Expect an evening of blues that will rock your senses."

Now an established name on the European Blues scene, Mick Clarke and his Band tour regularly in every country from Finland down to Italy, and aim to promote the Blues via their first foray to India this year. Early festival appearances include the Belgium R&B Festival in Peer, while the US tours established a worldwide reputation for the band. Recent tours have included appearances at the Baden Blues Festival in Switzerland, 'Blues Express' in Luxembourg, 'Rock at Sea' in Stockholm, Sweden, 'Seven Nights to Blues' in France and the Bragdoya Blues Festival in Norway.
