Zee TV bringing 'The Voice' to India; Shaan, Mika Singh and Himesh Reshammiya to coach

MUMBAI: After judging a host of singing reality shows, singer Shaan is all set to be coach of the Indian version of the 'The Voice'. The show is expected to start sometime in June or July this year, and the 'Chand Sifarish' singer expects to see an array of new talent come through the show. Other coaches confirmed for the show include singers Mika Singh and Himesh Reshammiya, while TV actor Karan Tacker is expected to host the reality show.

When asked how far these reality shows help upcoming singers Shaan said, “It does help a singer as these shows are all about grooming. It is like a beauty pageant. Contestants are taught how to walk, what to wear etc. It is the same with singers. Ultimately, it is left to them, but shows like these do guide contestants to become better.”

'The Voice India' was originally supposed to air on Hindi GEC channel- Imagine TV in 2011. However, the channel was completely shut down in May 2012 after struggling for ratings. The show is still to start production, however, sources confirmed that Zee TV will be airing the show.

Speaking about singers practicing their craft, Shaan stated that it is important to do so every day as it not only helps them improve, but also increases confidence.

Shaan will soon be leaving for the US, where he will be touring along with the winner of 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs' and will be back only by May. He will also be presenting an award at the upcoming Artist Aloud Music Awards, and the one thing he is looking forward to is a great voice regardless of the genre.

He will also soon release a single with his band Superbia, which is currently in the works.
