'X Factor' winner Ben Haenow claims Christmas number one

MUMBAI: After recently being crowned 'X Factor' winner of 2014, Ben Haenow has claimed the Official Christmas Number one with the single 'Something I Need'. The track sold 214,000 copies, making it the second-fastest selling single of 2014, coming behind Band Aid 30's 'Do They Know It's Christmas?', which was released last month.

Speaking to the Official Charts Company on his latest feat, the former van driver said, "To have even been in the running for Christmas Number 1 against some of the names that were in the race, and then to have actually won is incredible. It's an incredible end to my year."

Coming in second on the Official Singles Chart Top 10 is Mark Ronson's 'Uptown Funk' which features pop star Bruno Mars. It is followed by Ed Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud' in third place, while a new entry by Olly Murs and Demi Lovato- 'Up' takes fourth place. In fifth position is Wealdstone Raider's 'Got No Fans', which moved up 32 places after entering the Top 200 last Wednesday.

Take That's 'These Days', Taylor Swift's 'Black Space' and One Direction's 'Night Changes' comes in at six, seven and eight, respectively. Meanwhile Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding's collaborative effort 'Outside' places at nine and Meghan Trainor's 'All About That Bass' rounds up the top 10 tracks this week.

On the top selling albums chart Ed Sheeran's 'x' remains in first place after shifting over 214,000 copies last week. It is followed by 'In The Lonely Hour' (Sam Smith), 'Never Been Better' (Olly Murs), 'Wanted on Voyage' (George Ezra) and 'III' (Take That) in second, third, fourth and fifth places, respectively.
