'Wildest Dream' to be Taylor Swift's next '1989' single

MUMBAI: ‘Love Story’ singer Taylor Swift announced that her next single from her 2014 album ‘1989’ will be ‘Wildest Dreams’. The pop singer made the announcement through social media on 5 August.

However, that is all the details Swift offered for now. ‘Wildest Dreams’ will be the fifth single off ‘1989’, which is the singer’s fifth studio album. It is also the 25-year old’s first pop album. When it was released in 2014, ‘1989’ sold more copies in its opening week, as compared to any album in the previous 12 years.

‘1989’ was also Swift’s third album to sell more than one million copies in its opening week. Three of the already released singles from the album- ‘Shake It Off’, ‘Blank Space’ and ‘Bad Blood’, reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Should ‘Wildest Dreams’ top the Billboard Hot 100 chart as well, Swift will not be far behind her ‘once upon a time’ friend Katy Perry’s successful album ‘ Teenage Dream’. It was the first album to produce five number-ones on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by a female artist.

‘Teenage Dream’ included the hit singles ‘California Gurls’, ‘Teenage Dream’, ‘Firework’, ‘E.T.’, and ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)’ as well as the track- ‘The One That Got Away’, which peaked at number three.
