Tomorrowland not coming to India, focusing on Brazilian 2015 edition

MUMBAI: In recent days, rumours have been abuzz about Tomorrowland's promoters- ID&T and SFX, bringing the biggest EDM festival to the country.

To curb rumours, spokesperson of Tomorrowland, Debby Wilmsen stated in an e-mail, "This brief note is to respect and salute the Indian Tomorrowland fans and media, and to clarify that absolutely no decision has been made as to whether the next expansion of Tomorrowland will take place in India or in any other country in the world. Tomorrowland is always exploring possibilities & options but in the immediate future, the full focus is on the first Brazilian edition in May 2015, next to the editions in Belgium & USA."

The media got into a frenzy when a newspaper misquoted Universal Music India MD Devraj Sanyal, several times, hinting towards the involvement of the record label with the festival. To put a stop to the gossip about the active uncertainty and doubts, Sanyal has tried to shed light on the fact that Universal is in no way concerned with Tomorrowland coming to the country, Goa to be specific, as reports suggest.

He said, "We are not connected or involved with Tomorrowland whatsoever, and I am tired of people asking me if Universal is the promoter of the festival."

Sanyal made it absolutely clear that a publisher had quoted him incorrectly, and he has time and again offered no comments regarding the rumours.

The gossip about the festival's Indian edition was ablaze when a news source from Goa reported that Tourism Minister of Goa, Dilip Parulekar said, "Apart from the proposal received from Percept Company and Supersonic to host musical events in December, we have also received a proposal from one of the most notable global musical festival groups, Tomorrowland."

However, it seems that there is no likelihood of Tomorrowland India happening any time soon, which might disappoint a lot of Indian electronic music fans.
