Sunidhi Chauhan helped me while recording 'Dum Kham': Divya Kumar

MUMBAI: The ‘Jee Karda’ singer Divya Kumar recently crooned the song ‘Dum Kham’ for the film ‘Manjhi- The Mountain Man.’ The song was composed by Hitesh Sonik and lyrics have been penned by Kumaar.

Speaking about the track, Kumar said, “I got a call from Hitesh Sonik’s office to record this track. The only thing he told me was that we do not wish to make an anthem but through my voice I had to resonate the difficulties that Dashrath Manjhi had faced throughout his life and yet is fighting hard and swimming against the tide to achieve what he has decided. He narrated the whole situation of the song really well.”

The recording happened quickly and Sonik was very particular that the emotions should be portrayed rightly.

“While recording the track, Sunidhiji was also present in the studio. She too helped me to record the track and the outcome is just superb. The song belongs to my comfort zone, so I thoroughly enjoyed the recording session,” he further said.

The singer listens to a lot of folk music and his favourite musicians include Pandit Shivram, Karsan Sagathi and Hemant Trivedi amongst others.

Kumar said that if he got an opportunity to make a single, he would include a lot of folk elements in the track. “I wish to explore more before I zero down on what kind of single I wish to do, but surely I would include a lot of folk elements in the song,” explained the ‘Shubhaarambh’ singer.

The singer has also crooned the song ‘Jab We Met’ for the film ‘Hero,’ the track of which is composed by Sachin Jigar.
