Siddharth Mahadevan is thrilled to be a part of the film 'Rock On 2'

MUMBAI: Siddharth Mahadevan is immensely happy to be part of the largely anticipated Bollywood film 'Rock On 2' as it is like a dream come true for him. He was barely 14 when the first part of the film had released, and now being part of the film by rendering his vocals, is something that he always wanted to do.

“First of all, rock as a genre, is very close to my heart. Secondly, being a part of 'Rock on 2' is very exciting. I really felt nostalgic recording for the film. The album is very hard hitting and has an international feel. But you need to like the genre in order to enjoy the music of the film,” said Mahadevan. Most of the songs in the film are sung by Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor, and the music of the film is composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy.

The 23-year old was a part of the biggest film album of 2014- ‘2 States’ and crooned the song ‘Hulla Re’, for the film as it bagged several awards for the music. However, according to him, the song was not promoted well and he was a bit disappointed with the same. “It is always good to be a part of a film, with such great music, but I was a little disappointed with the fact that the song was not promoted enough. A very small part of the song was used in the film, but yet I am happy that audiences loved it. I still get requests to sing ‘Hulla Re’ during my live gigs,” he elucidated. The ‘Malang’ singer has always believed that if a song is good, it will reach the masses and has always concentrated on giving his best.

According to him, coming from a musical family, there are bound to be comparisons between him and his famous musical father- Shankar Mahadevan. However, this only motivates him to work harder and establish his own identity in the world of music. “My father has always told me that I need to be original, keep working hard and do not pay a heed to what people are saying. If you work well, things will fall in place,” he explained.

Mahadevan’s latest track ‘Pehli Baar’ from the film ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, was rather successful, receiving a lot of good responses. It also gave him the opportunity to work with veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar. Apart from this, three of the Marathi films he composed for- ‘Sata Lota Pan Sagla Khota’, ‘Welcome Zindigi’ and ‘Sugar Salt Ane Prem’ are releasing in July this year.

The singer/composer is also an ardent fan of Arijit Singh and looks to him for inspiration as he can sing any genre. In his leisure time, he loves watching football and cricket, and his favourites are Cristiano Ronaldo and Sachin Tendulkar. Mahadevan will next be heard in a track- ‘Sarfare’ from the Kangana Ranaut and Imran Khan starrer- ‘Katti Batti’. The track is expected to release in the first week of July.
