Shruti Pathak to release a new single with her band Guzzler

MUMBAI: By this weekend, fans of Shruti Pathak, who have been anticipating for her next single, will be grooving to her tunes. The ‘Criminal’ singer revealed that her next single, along with its music video will be released on 24 July, 2015 with her band Guzzler.

Without revealing the name of the single, Pathak said, “The single is a ghazal, originally sung by Jagjit Singh. I have not remade the track, but instead, have tried infusing newer elements to the song. I have made it groovier and given it a modern day touch. I hope my listeners like the single and appreciate it.” She revealed that it took her a while to create this single, as she was juggling her routine of recording and live performances. Pathak intends to come up with more singles regularly.

The ‘Shubharambh’ singer has grown up listening to Gujarati ghazals. “Ghazals was initially a part of Persian literature and slowly it came to Urdu, then Hindi and even Gujarati. So I have grown up listening to these Gujarati ghazals. Gulzar sahab actually inspired me to take this genre ahead. I loved his works and poetries,” she explained. Ghazal singers like Begum Akhtar, Farida Khanum, Ghulam Ali and Hariharan are among her favourites. Pathak said she would love to explore more in the genre of ghazals.

Like many artists, Pathak goes through the feeling of anxiety or fear that people may not like her work. “I am prepared for both negative and a positive feedback, which is why I put myself out there and show my work to people. For me each and every listener matters,” she added.

Apart from the single, Pathak will soon also collaborate with indie artists, but she refused to divulge any details about it.
