Shruti Pathak and Hriday Gattani mash-up Amir Khushro and Bruno Mars in new Indian Connection video

MUMBAI: Right off her 'Dewarists' collaboration with Nucleya, Filmfare Award nominated singer Shruti Pathak was recently seen in Hriday Gattani's 'Indian Connection' video called 'Bruno Mars Indian Connection'. The music video is a mash-up of Bruno Mars' 'Nothing On You' and Amir Khusrow's 'Chaap Tilak'.

Pathak lends her vocals for 'Chaap Tilak', while Gattani lends his for 'Nothing On You', in addition to producing and programming the entire track. This marks Gattani's second 'Indian Connection' music video. Gattani formed 'Indian Connection' with his father a couple of years ago with the intention to bridge Indian music with world music.

Both, Pathak and Gattani, call the collaboration a 'jam'. Pathak said, "While we started jamming, 'Chaap Tilak' happened. We were instantly in for it. We jammed a couple times more, while Hriday started making the track." On Gattani, Pathak opined, "He is indeed very talented. He gave the song a completely new definition. And, I am glad it turned out to be so much fun."

The last 'Indian Connection' video was released two years ago, and was a cover of The Beatles' classic 'Let It Be', featuring Hindustani classical vocalist Suchismita Das. When asked if listeners will have to wait another couple of years for another 'Indian Connection', Gattani said, "The last one was sort of an experiment. After 'Bruno Mars Indian Connection', the plan is to release one 'Indian Connection' every two months." That however, he said, would depend on the artist he collaborates with.

Since first being exposed to YouTube eight years ago while in boarding school, Gattani has been uploading covers on the video sharing site. He has also been working on his original compositions. His last original composition called 'I Just Met Somebody' featuring Neeti Mohan was released three months ago. Gattani has his next original English song already recorded, and will start shooting the music video soon. Simultaneously, he is also working on an original Hindi song.

Gattani cites YouTube sensations Kurt Hugo Schneider and Sam Tsui as his inspirations. His tracks are also available for download on iTunes.
