Shekhar Ravjiani's best gift to his mother on her birthday

MUMBAI: Singer composer Shekhar Ravjiani, of the Vishal Shekhar duo, is over the moon with his nomination for 'Best Singer'. It is the second time he has been nominated for Best Singer this season, and this time it is for a Marathi track. The nomination comes from MATA Awards for the track 'Saang na' from the Marathi film ‘Classmates’. Troy and Arif have composed the music for the film.

“I am thrilled that my talent for singing is not only being unearthed but also getting recognition. This is the second time that I have been nominated for a Marathi song. Previously I had sung ‘Haravleli Pakhre’ for the film ‘Balak Palal’, and I won an award for that,” said Shekhar Ravjiani. The singer/composer was nominated for Best Singer for ‘Zehnaseeb’ from the Bollywood film ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ by Filmfare earlier this year. While he did not manage a win at the Filmfare Awards, the song did win Song of the Year at the Mirchi Music Awards.

News of the nomination came as an ideal gift for his mother on her birthday. “I think I could not give her any better gift for her birthday. My mom is so very happy and the smile on her face actually gives me a lot of satisfaction.”

His last hit in Bollywood was the duo’s composition for the film ‘Happy New Year’.
