Sanam Puri reveals why the SQS band was renamed

MUMBAI: SANAM, formerly known as the SQS band, recently released a new Punjabi single- 'Garmi De Tu' on YouTube for Valentine's Day. It was in January when the band came up with the idea of launching a single, and they worked on the song for a month. The lyrics have been written by Siddhant Kaushal, with vocals rendered by Sanam Puri.

"Last year during Valentine's Day, the song 'Ishq Bulava' released from the film 'Hasee toh Phasee' so we thought, why not come up with something for Valentine's Day. The song is dedicated to all our listeners who have loved us so much," said the 'Dhat Teri Ki' singer.

The song features all the band members, with guitars played by Samar Puri, Venky S on bass and Keshav Dhanraj on drums. While the track took a month, the shoot was done in a couple of days. "If we had a few more days, the single would have been even better but then we had a deadline to meet," he further added.

The band was previously known as the SQS Band. Talking about the reason behind changing the name of the band he said, "The word SQS was not working with people, and we came up with around 300 names. But we still could not find a word which could connect well with the audience. One of us suggested calling the band SANAM, and it sounded good. We wanted a name that would get registered in minds quickly and we went ahead with it."
