Palak Muchhal sings 'Panchhi Bole' for æBaahubali'

MUMBAI: After working with several big Bollywood composers like Mithoon and Sajid Wajid, Palak Muchhal recently worked with one of the most popular composers from the South- MM Kreem. The ‘Mere Aashiqui’ singer has rendered her vocals for the song ‘Panchhi Bole’ from the film ‘Baahubali’, which is composed by Kreem and has lyrics penned by Manoj Muntashir.

Talking about the project she said, “I got a call at 7 am from Kreem sir’s office and they said he wanted to record a song with me. They wanted me to come to Hyderabad to his studio.” After meeting with the composer in his studio in Hyderabad, he played the song to her on a piano. “He asked me to record his voice and rehearse with it for a while. I rehearsed the song once and then went straight to the mic. This surprised him, and the recording happened quickly,” she said.

According to Muchhal, the working style of composers differentiates the South Indian industry from the Bollywood industry. “When I work in Bollywood, I present my variations and give my creative inputs. But when I was recording with Kreem Sir, he knew what he wanted. Also I think they have this working pattern wherein before rehearsing the song, they expect singers to get the notations, practice the song for a while and only then go behind the mic,” she revealed. His songs like ‘Kaun Mera’ from ‘Special 26’, ‘Gali Mein Aaj Chand Nikla’ from the film, ‘Zakhm’ dominates her playlist.

In an industry where artists are compared to each other for composing or singing abilities, the ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’ singer is often compared to Shreya Ghoshal. However, according to her, nothing much can be done if people compare her to a veteran singer. In fact, she takes the comparison in a positive manner, which gets her to work harder. “In our industry, comparisons are bound to happen. I do not sound like anyone on purpose. I take these things in a very positive manner and if I am compared to someone as established as her, then I need to work harder,” Muchhal added.
