The Other People to release debut album of original material in 2015

MUMBAI: After years of performing music by other artists, The Other People, will soon release its debut album of original material. The band, which is one of the most popular cover bands in the independent scene, has been working on an album of new material over the last one and a half year, and it will finally see the light of day in early 2015.

Speaking on the upcoming album, lead vocalist Zarir Warden said, "We started recording the album in August 2013 and finished in November 2014, and it has come together very well. The album is called '#Dreamers Believers #Lovers' and will have a total of 10 tracks." He revealed that the album names comes from a lyric from one of the albums tracks- 'Dancing for the world', which the band hopes to release next.

One of the album's tracks 'Christmas is Here', was released in November this year and received good response from the audiences. "The song was written by someone else and we were given an unreleased demo, and the opportunity to take it and make it our own. We really liked it when we heard it the first time. Since releasing English music in India is not very easy, we thought releasing something Christmas related, which is accepted universally, would be a good idea," he said of the track. 'Christmas is Here' was released and distributed through Universal Music.

The new album will also have seven original tracks, for which lyrics have been written by Warden, who is signed under Universal Music Publishing as a singer/ songwriter. The new album will also feature a song based on women empowerment, a movement that the band is very vocal about. "The contest we won in 2012 was actually by an NGO in America to stop violence against women. We have been behind the cause for a few years now, and have a song about it. We are looking for a few tie-ups for that song and it can be massive if it comes through," he said.

It will also feature two covers- one is Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky', which Warden says is one of the most requested songs at the band's shows. The other is a stripped down version of Kelly Clarkson's 'Dark Side', which won the band a global competition back in 2012, and eventually brought them more recognition.
Warden asserted that the band plans to release at least one or two more songs from the album over the next two months, before releasing the album by late February 2015 or early March 2015. Post releasing '#Dreamers #Believers #Lovers', The Other People hope to do a few music videos for the tracks on the album.

"We hope to have a tour once the album is out; we have a lot of plans in mind. We are trying to do something very different, but I cannot say much about that until I know for sure. We want to be big in India and in the international scene," he added.

The band has also started a new project which involves visiting schools and colleges to spread the music of love. "We have already been to a few schools and will continue to visit some more in the new year, as just a way to spread music and light to kids. It is important that they understand music the right way. It is not just about the bling you see, but it is a strong therapeutic tool," he concluded.
