Oscars: 'Glory' and 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' win in original song and score category

MUMBAI: John Legend and Common's music and lyrics in æGloryÆ from the film æSelmaÆ received the Oscar for Best Original Song category at the 87th Academy Awards at Los Angeles on Sunday night.

The song performed by Legend and Common was co-written by Che Smith. The number was also performed at the Oscars ceremony.

The other nominations in the category were Shawn Patterson for for æEverything Is AwesomeÆ from æThe Lego MovieÆ, Diane Warren for æGratefulÆ from æBeyond the LightsÆ, Glen Campbell and Julian Raymond for æI'm Not Gonna Miss YouÆ from æGlen Campbell: I'll Be MeÆ and Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois for æLost StarsÆ from æBegin AgainÆ.

The Best Original Score went to Alexandre Desplat for æThe Grand Budapest HotelÆ. Desplat was also nominated for the film æThe Imitation GameÆ in the Best Original Score caregory along with Hans Zimmer for æInterstellarÆ, Gary Yershon for æMr. TurnerÆ and Johann Johannsson for the æThe Theory of EverythingÆ.

During Oscars, Lady Gaga paid a tribute to the hit musical æThe Sound Of MusicÆ which completed its 50th anniversary. She performed on the stage in the presence of veteran actress Julie Andrews. She sang a melody of songs from the 1965 film, including æThe Sound of MusicÆ, æMy Favourite ThingsÆ, æEdelweissÆ and æClimb Every MountainÆ.

The film's star, Julie Andrews, joined Gaga on stage, and her arrival was met with a standing ovation.
