No New Year celebrations for Mustafa Zahid

MUMBAI: Mustafa Zahid has called off his 31st December concert owing to the unfortunate incident that took place in Peshawar about two weeks ago. Instead, the 'Bhoola Dena Mujhe' singer wants it to be a low key affair and intends to spend more time with his family.

"I will not be celebrating on 31st December as there is nothing to be happy about. The world we live in has forgotten humanity and does not even spare innocent children who have done nothing. I want all the people of Pakistan and India to come together to fight terrorism," asserted Zahid.

He is, however, taken up with the solidarity displayed by Indians through hastags. "I really thank all the Indians, who in the hour of crisis, offered their support to our people as this definitely shows that we are one and humanity still prevails," he further explained.

Zahid is known for not mincing words when it comes to expressing his opinion. He often voices his opinion via his Twitter account. "As a writer or an artiste, you often feel like expressing your opinion, and I do that regardless of the reactions. Being a public figure, people do want you to say what they feel, but I always say what I feel is right," he added.

According to the singer, 2014 had been very fruitful both personally and professionally as he crooned a few hit numbers in Bollywood, and he also ‘tied the knot'. In the upcoming year he wishes to release independent albums, which have been pending for a while now. "I have no resolutions for 2015, as resolutions are meant to be broken," Zahid jested.

He has no reservations about working with new people as he feels they give 200 per cent to the work they do. "When a person is composing a song for me for the first time, the person must have done a lot of research on the kind of voice or texture that would suit me. Also they are less distracted so I love to work with new-comers," he concluded.
