MUMBAI: Getting verified on Twitter for RJ Malishka comes as no surprise, considering she has been a renowned radio personality, who has also made it to television through various reality shows like 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' and 'Connected Hum Tum'.

Engaging with her digital fans through Facebook and Twitter on a regular basis has become part her daily schedule. According to Malishka, getting verified on Twitter is a simple and gradual process which has nothing to do with the number of followers any one has. The popular radio personality has more than one lakh followers on both, Facebook and Twitter. When quizzed if she ever had help to increase her followers, she revealed, “Twitter's team helped me and they advised me on how I can maximise my followers and how often I should post relevant tweets. They also advised me on how to make use of the 30 seconds video option made available by Twitter.”

Speaking about being relevant in the radio industry as an RJ, she said that it involves evolving and understanding things that are relevant. "If you are in the media business, you have to be on Twitter. Relevance is the name of the game," explained Malishka."Social media is not something that we can shy away from," she added.

Malishka talks about the time she started as an RJ, ten years ago, when anonymity was crucial for RJs. "The concept of being anonymous does not sync well with today's era," said the first Indian Twitter verified RJ.

To celebrate her blue tick, along with completing ten years in the industry, she will be interacting with her fans via a Twitter Chat on 17 April from 12 noon to 1 pm. Fans can tweet questions to her with the hash tag #AskMalishka.

After her 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' stint, the RJ has become rather health conscious. "I decided to follow a strict diet and exercise regime after my stint at Jhalak. I will continue to follow it as it makes me feel different from inside. It is about feeling positive and daily exercises help me feel so good from inside."

The RJ was recently seen enjoying a cricket match. Commenting on which, she said she likes two teams in IPL; one is SunRisers Hyderabad because the team wears the Red FM logo with pride, and the other team is Mumbai Indians the teams she lives with.

Apart from RJing, Malishka has been associated with many other projects, which she still continues. But there is something she is still not able to do, which is practice singing. When it comes to her taste in music, she still prefers listening to songs that are lyrically sound and are old melodies. Her taste, however, has changed a little. Today, she listens to Bollywood, Jazz, Dance and Techno or many another music genre.
