Krsna: The music for 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' is quite contemporary

MUMBAI: Composer Krsna, best known for his music in 'Tanu Weds Manu', is back to offer a musical treat with the film's sequel- 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns'. Sonu Nigam and Ankit Tiwari are two of the singers who have rendered vocals for Krsna's compositions in the film.

"The music is more contemporary and approachable. In the first movie, we had to introduce the characters to the people, and the protagonists were yet to meet. But now in 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' the audiences already know of the protagonist who have got married. The story has matured, and so has the music," explained the composer.

The composer, who bagged a Filmfare Award for Best Music Composer for the film's previous edition, revealed that he has tried to introduce various genres of music in the album since he was given complete freedom from director- Anand Rai.

For Krsna, music is all about evolving and horning his skills.  Seldom is he seen socialising, as he feels that his music should speak for himself. Krsna plans to lap up many big projects not just in Bollywood, but also internationally. One of them is the famous documentary, 'India's Daughter' that churned out various opinions not just in India, but globally as well.

It took him a couple of years to finish composing music for the documentary. "I had to do ten times more music than what I did for Bollywood as you never know who says what. In films everything is according to the script, but here things were unpredictable. Which is why I was involved in the process, right from the first day," he explained.

Krsna also revealed that he recently recorded an independent project with two-time Grammy winner Rick Hillaire.

'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' will hit theaters on 22 May, 2015.
