JLo felt 'abused' in relationships

MUMBAI: Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez says she felt abused in some of her past relationships. She shared her experience in her upcoming memoir "True Love", reports people.com.

While she does not specify the abuser, Lopez writes: "I have never gotten a black eye or a busted lip, but I have felt abused in one way or another - mentally, emotionally, and verbally."

Her new book describes the many ups and downs of her love life, as well as the reasons behind her 2011 split from singer Marc Anthony, the father of their six-year-old twins Max and Emma.  But this was not the book she planned to write.

"It started out as fan book, a diary of the years I went on tour. But it turned into something else. As I started looking at things, it helped me face a lot. I would never go into specifics about my relationships, and I don't. But the idea was that I learned something," she said.

Internet sources report that Lopez has been influenced by artists such as Tina Turner, James Brown, Michael Jackson, Madonna and Barbra Streisand. Having experienced insecurity about the strength of her voice herself, Lopez has since grown in confidence, crediting former husband Marc Anthony for helping her.
