The Dirty Strikes' Bom Leimapokpam found dead in his home

MUMBAI: Founding member and guitarist of the Dirty Strikes, Bom Leimapokpam bid good bye to the world on 4 January. He committed suicide just hours after celebrating five years of togetherness with his Post Punk band.

The musician's last rituals took place on 5 January at 4pm, and were attended by family and friends.

Remembering the last time they spent together, the band's vocalist Kennedy Heigrujam said, "The night that we all meet we had fun and it was good. We discussed our upcoming gig and about the new songs that we planned to play there. There were no signs of depression. We are shocked as we never sensed this before." He also admitted that Leimapokpam had never attempted this act before.

Leimapokpam was found hanging in his home where he stayed with his family. Heigrujam added, "The same day he committed the act, it was raining very heavily, due to which the family did not hear any sounds of struggle."

He was also working towards getting recruited as a fire-fighter. The Imphal based band was working on new songs that it planned to unveil during an upcoming gig scheduled for 17 January. When quizzed about the reason, Heigrujam said that they are clueless on what happened. The band had last played at the first edition of Vans New Wave Asia Musicfest in Goa.

Heigrujam also revealed that over the next week, the band will decide which direction it will head in- to continue or disband.

Leimapokpam turned 24 on 15 December 2014.
