'Anu Aunty' has gone viral with a music video featuring Brodha V

MUMBAI: In the last few days, the music video titled 'Anu Aunty - The Engineering Anthem', which is inspired by Varun Agarwal's book 'How I Braved Anu Aunty & Co-Founded a Million Dollar Company', has gone viral. The music for the anthem is composed by Brodha V.

Agarwal, who is co-founder of Alma Mater and two other companies - Reticular and Last Minute FIlms, has contributed the concept of the video, while Sanjay Manaktala and Brodha V have written the lyrics for the track

The music video features Sumukhi Suresh (Anu Aunty),  Agarwal , Manaktala, Brodha V, Parveen Kumar (Pundit), Sundeep Rao, Nikitha Dattatri, Priyanka Garg and Varun Rajagopalan.

In less than two weeks, the video garnered more than five lakh views. Commenting on the video, music composer/rapper Brodha V said, “I had a slight idea that the video could go viral and will be talked about. So when we made the song, we made sure not to complicate the song lyrically and musically. We wanted it to be catchy and simple at the same time so that people could relate to it. We managed to do that and are happy with the final result. We believed that it could become big as it is the story of young Indians.” They started working on the project two months ago, revealed the 'Ready Steady Po' rapper.

He believes that anyone who takes up a profession that is unconventional is more likely to face scrutiny due to the way society functions, which is expressed in the video.

Brodha V has been busy with projects like shooting for two documentary films and a music project with composer Anirudh Ravichander. Off the two films, one documentary is titled 'Hip-hop in Asia', and is based around stories of various Asian hip-hop artistes and the hip-hop scene in Asia. The other project is an initiative of OML (Only Much Louder) - a documentary about Indie artistes in India (over 40 years). Both documentaries are expected to be out soon.

Meanwhile, his collaboration with Ravichander for the Tamil film 'Kaaki Sattai' for a song titled 'Shake That', was also a much talked about project. In the past, he has worked with Vishal-Shekhar and rapped for the song 'Ready Steady Po' from Chennai Express, and with Raghu Dixit on the song 'Dheaon Dheaon' from 'Mujhse Fraandship Karoge'. Talking about films, he said that he chooses films very careful because he likes to enjoy creative freedom along with exposure.

He is also working on a new untitled single and its music video, which will be launched by the end of this month. His last single was 'Aigiri Nandini'.
