Amaal Mallik and Tulsi Kumar team up for 'Ek Paheli Leela'

MUMBAI: It is often said that if you adapt to a particularly accepted formula in Bollywood, you will survive. But for Amaal Mallik, it is the other way round. Currently, the 23 year old is elated with the response he has received for his track- 'Sooraj Dooba Hai’ in the film 'Roy’. The song has been in the top three positions on iTunes India for more than a month now.

Despite the track’s success, he has declined a few offers that demanded similar songs like his recently hit for a couple of reasons. One is his abhorrence for clichés, and two is to avoid getting type-casted in the industry. "If you do something good, you should let it float around for a while rather than just doing the same thing time and again. If an artiste becomes predictable, then he or she gets slotted and is labeled a cliché. There have been producers who have asked me to make something like my song in 'Roy’, but I have declined offers. I do not wish to make another 'Sooraj Dooba Hai Yaaro’ in 2015," said Mallik.

The composer has made music for a couple of tracks, 'Tere Bin’ and 'Saiyaan Superstar’ from the Sunny Leone starrer 'Ek Paheli Leela’. Both tracks are crooned by 'Piya Aye Na’ singer- Tulsi Kumar and are penned by Kumaar, who even wrote lyrics for the film 'Roy’. "The brief for 'Tere Bin’ was simple. It was an out and out romantic track so I composed it accordingly. For 'Saiyaan Superstar’ Bhushanji wanted a peppy track and I said I wanted to try out Tulsi for the track. We recorded her singing and it was just amazing, the way she sung the track because she is better known for romantic tracks," he opined.

For Kumar, crooning 'Saaiyan Superstar’ was more like breaking the stereotype. "I always wanted to sing peppy numbers and somewhere I had got labeled and I modulated my voice for the same and people can hardly recognise my voice. Both my songs in the film are a complete contrast," explained Kumar. The song 'Tere Bin’ was recorded in just one session, while 'Saiyaan Superstar’ took a little longer.

'Ek Paheli Leela’ will release on 10th April 2015.
