After 'Rama Madhav', Narendra Bhide's composes for 'P.G.'

MUMBAI: After winning an award for 'Best Background Score' at the Kalyan International Film Festival for the movie 'Rama Madhav' acclaimed Marathi musician Narendra Bhide kicks off 2015 with composing the score and soundtrack for the upcoming Marathi film, 'P.G.'. The film is based on a story by veteran Marathi laureate Vasant Purushottam Kale.

Although much of the story is being kept under wraps, Bhide spoke to Radioandmusic.com about the music of the film. He said, "I never thought the story that I liked so much in my childhood would finally see the light of day on screen. Initially, I could not imagine how to go about composing the film. But, Sanjay Mone has written such a good screenplay that the music for it immediately came to me."

The film has two songs, with a third still in development. The first track is called 'Go Go Govinda' sung by legendary Marathi singer Avdoot Gupte. The song is picturised on the festival of Dahi Handi. The sounds of dhol and tashan have been incorporated in the song.

The second track is a romantic duet sung between Anandi Joshi and Hrishikesh Ranade called 'Punha Punha Tujhi Mithi'. Bhide said that it is the first time that the singers are shifting away from the genres that they are known for. "Anandi and Hrishikesh are both accustomed to singing in a particular style. In this track, you will hear an appealing fusion of the two," said Bhide. Both the songs are written by Vaibhav Joshi.

He also revealed that there might be a third track which may be used as a theme song to the film for promotional purposes. However, that is still in development.

In addition to 'P.G.', Bhide has also composed a musical called 'I Had Played A Role Too' which incorporates seven different Indian dance forms and is inspired by the epic Mahabharata. This event will premiere on 28 February. He is also currently working on a Hindi film with Paresh Mokashi, who directed the Marathi film 'Elizabeth Ekadashi'.

Bhide also is the Creative Director of Dawn Infotainment Private Limited also known as Dawn Studios. Through his company, Bhide aspires to create a favourable launch pad for Indian filmmakers, musicians and technicians to nourish their respective productions in a peaceful environment. The music department of Dawn Studios recently gained critical acclaim through their first film, 'Rama Madhav'.

'P.G.' is expected to hit theatres later this year.
